The First Rain

Sitting outside,
A cool breeze blows,
A reprieve
From the summer heat.
But,
momentary.

Then a bright flash,
Slicing through the darkness,
then thunder,
And silence.

Slowly, like a leaky tap,
One hesitant drop falls,
Followed by another,
And one more.

And soon the sky,
Once pure black,
Is lit with flashes of lightening,
And the silent night
Is filled
with the steady pitter-patter
Of raindrops.
And the unbearable heat
Is absorbed,
Leaving a cool,
pleasant night.

Oblivion

Ah! Listen to the song,
The lovely melodies of the bird,
The passive rustling of the leaves,
The laughter of the brook.

Paradise!
There can be no other word.
To be one with god,
There is no other place.

Beautiful...
Tis true it is the beholder's opinion,
And I, sitting here shall say,
There is no place more beautiful.

To roll around on the grass,
Fresh, lively,
Like a young child,
To relive that innocence..

Peace, calm. refreshing, blowing
Away all troubled memories.
To leave me happy n content.
And falling asleep i know no more..

Tumultuous

Grey Skies, dark clouds,

Thunder, its fearful sound,

Bright terrifying lightening,

And the rain pelting down,

I cannot see, nor do I wish to,

So terrifying, so painful, so unbearable,

The rain clouds my sight,

The clouds, the light of judgment,

Instead the lightening of evil,

Shows a path, draws me into it,

The clouds, the rain, all beckoning me,

To go to them, to join them,

Blinded by the pain of separation,

My reason clouded, I can not think,

I only follow, it is wrong but,

I can not stop, can not stop…..

Suddenly a glimmer of hopeful sunlight,

Telling me it will soon be over,

Now a beam penetrating through the darkness,

I pause and wonder...

May be I should head towards sunlight,

But the path is not easy,

Thorns prick, yet I move on,

Guided by courage and the light,

Slowly I head towards my destination,

The pain slowly subsides,

And I trudge on and on,

To reach the glorious light,

Now two beams, now three,

All visible, parting the clouds,

My resolve strengthens,

I yearn for the bright, warm light,

But the path does not end,

It is continuous and I grow weary,

The lightening is over, closer than before,

And it beckons,

Torn between right and wrong,

I don not know if I will make it,

Complete indecision fills me,

And I stand and wonder,

Between life and death stranded,

With no knowledge of what either holds,

Yet I must choose, tell me,

Which is the right one?

As if an answer the clouds slowly move away,

Taking the lightening with it,

The sunlight fills the sky,

And warms me up from within,

Peace ecstasy unparalleled,

Never before experienced,

And a greater strength,

To live out life.

Lonely

I miss you,
Your touch, your smile,
The way you made me laugh,
Your sensitivity, your attention,
The way you understood me,
Without my saying a word.
Your mere presence lifted me up ,
And took me to a place beyond.
And in your eyes, the feeling
Of love, trust, care - no more?
For look, and there is no one.
Your warm embrace no longer engulfs me.
And i stand alone,
Missing you.
Loving you...

Veiled Secrets

In your eyes, i see dark clouds
Promising a torrent of tears
And delivering
nothing.

To travel beyond the veil,
And discover the unfolding secrets
Rolling over each other
Like the roaring waves of the sea.
And I, sitting on the beach,
Will absorb everything.
Your toils, your troubles,
Your grief, are all mine too,
For when you are sad,
I can never be happy,

Open up to me and you will see,
How much more joyous you can be,
Free your eyes from the dreaded chains,
That scare away happiness.
